Vintage String Weddings: Frequently Asked Questions

WHERE CAN STRINGS PERFORM?

String instruments can perform anywhere you choose to get married! From a church or chapel, to the beach, the forest, or a grassy lawn, string instruments can go anywhere with minimal set-up. If amplification is needed, we can also easily and discreetly provide amplification, as long as a power outlet is available. The only requirements for outdoor performance is a temperature above 60 degrees Fahrenheit and a shaded space, since these elements of weather can make for a less than stellar performance. We are Boston-based with teams based in New York, Providence, and Boston. We serve Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey, as well as destinations weddings.

WHAT ARE THE OPTIONS?

We offer several different ensemble options on string instruments of Violin, Viola, Cello, and Guitar. Percussion can also be added to any of the ensembles below. You can choose a full drum set or a more mellow percussion sound of the seated cajon drum, depending on the energy and mood of your event.

SOLO: violin, viola, cello, or guitar

DUO: violin & viola, violin & guitar, violin & cello

TRIO: violin, viola, cello

QUARTET: 2 violins, viola, cello

SIGNATURE ENSEMBLE: founders Diane & Vanessa with optional drums & cello/bass/guitar

HOW DOES PRICING WORK?

Our pricing is based on the number of players and length of the event. Our packages provide a value for a combination of ceremony and cocktail hour music. We aim to find an option for every budget. Please contact us at VintageString@gmail.com or submit a booking request on our Booking Page!

WHAT’S INCLUDED IN YOUR WEDDING PRICING?

Our wedding music pricing includes travel within a 30 mile radius of Boston, New York City, or Providence, personalized song recommendations, all equipment set-up and breakdown, and an outstanding and memorable string performance at your wedding ceremony. Optional additions include percussion, custom arrangements, sound amplification, and microphone rental for toasts and ceremony. We are happy to travel to locations beyond our 30 mile radius for a small additional mileage charge.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST POPULAR OPTION?

For the majority of weddings, we perform a musical prelude (music played while your guests are getting seated), the wedding ceremony, and a cocktail hour following the ceremony while pictures are being taken. For most, the total length is 2 hours. However, we can play longer events, such as dinners and receptions, or shorter events such as the ceremony only.

We have years of experience playing weddings throughout Massachusetts and New England, as well as experience performing outside of the United States in Saint Lucia and the Azores. We strive to make your wedding a unique reflection of you and your partner. YES, ABSOLUTELY! From classic standards to contemporary top 40 songs, our REPERTOIRE LIST is extensive. And if your favorite song is not on the list, no problem. We specialize in custom arrangements of your favorite songs played by strings. We want to make choosing your wedding music the simplest part of planning your wedding.
